First Public Build NOW AVAILABLE!
Cat Burglary » Devlog
After 69 LONG days of tweaking (and college.... mostly college), the first ever public build of Cat Burglary is now released! Now, as this is my first serious game, this game has a lot of... amateur decisions. That's the best way I can put it. Every convention you can think of with the tools I've used, I have probably violated it... but I'm learning!
The MYSTERY difficulty option is NOT unlockable in this version
[CHANGELOG]
- The result screens will display information faster. Now, I could allow people to skip the results with a click. However, I'm lazy. The results will allow you to advance after 1.5 seconds instead of 9 seconds
- Stealables were noted to be stuck in their "Picked Up" states even though they are on the shelves. This should be fixed now!
- There will now be a visual cue when bagging a stealable. A crude animation, but an animation nonetheless
- The timer will stop when the escape button is pressed
- Added an option to mute the sound effects in the game
- Added a “mouse and keyboard highly recommended” splash screen so that trackpad only players will know they are in for a bad time
- Added the ability to skip the introduction screens and head straight to the title with a left mouse click
- Replace the generic Godot logo with a custom made logo. I recorded it with my phone and did some editing. Hope u enjoy
- Made the color of epic rarity fortunes (purple) and risk rarity fortunes (red) a lot more visually distinguishable
- Increased the threshold for the level to warn players about their time running out. It will procure when the time is less than or equal to 15 seconds instead of a measly 5
- Added the ability to escape with BOTH the left mouse click AND spacebar. This was a request by both playtesters
- Added the ability to skip the caught/escape/gameover/win screen with a left click OR spacebar
- Updated the credits to reflect tools used as well as the preferred names of the playtesters
[KNOWN ISSUES]
Everything under the sun... but here's the list so far
- OBS, Discord, and any software that can capture application will make the game TANK in performance
- Some of the movements (ESPECIALLY the fortune cards) can be jittery. This was not reflected in the debug mode of the game for some reason
- The MADE IN GODOT Splash Screen lags quite a bit. Then again, this is a 1080p 60fps video. The audio also lags
- The resolution HAS to stay in 1920x1080 (1080p) resolution. What I'm trying to say is that the game does NOT scale!!!
- The entire gallery screen. Sometimes, you can be stick on a gallery entry with no way to leave it. However, it's technically NOT a softlock. Just click on another entry in the background and the entries can be clicked out of!
- The music... not just the fact that it sucks but the fact that some of the audio CRACKLES! It only does it a little and only if u focus in on it.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave comments on issues, ideas, and/or suggestions about the game! I will be sure to look at them when I have time!
